The ηL(1410) component of the η(1440) pseudoscalar has strong affinity for glue. But its mass is incompatible with lattice simulations that predict a much higher value for the 0 glueball. As a consequence it has been suggested that ηL(1410) could signal physics beyond the Standard Model. Here we argue that if glueballs are closed gluonic fluxtubes then ηL(1410) is a prime candidate for the 0 −+ glueball. Furthermore, in the absence of parity violating terms its mass should be degenerate with that of the 0 glueball. We also suggest that the decay properties of such glueballs could be employed as probes for extra dimensions. [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]

The η ′ which is an SU(3) F singlet state can contain a pure gluon component , gluonium. We examine this possibility by analysing all available experimental data. It is pointed out that the η ′ gluonic component may be as large as 26%. We also show that the amplitude for J/ψ → η ′ γ decay obtains a notable contribution from gluonium.

We classify the simply-connected supersymmetric parallelisable backgrounds of heterotic supergravity. They are all given by parallelised Lie groups admitting a bi-invariant lorentzian metric. We find examples preserving 4, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 of the 16 supersymmetries.
